The pendulum has been used in mystic rites since before the time of the pyramids. It is one of the oldest, and one of the simplest methods of obtaining information intuitively. It’s phenomenon has been explained in many ways. One popular theory is that the pendulum is an instrument for tapping into the subconscious mind. The earliest ones were made from bits of bone or brightly-colored stones.
We live in an energy universe. Every organism is surrounded by all kinds of energy. Plants can shrink away from people who radiate hostile energy towards them. Animals can instinctively perceive positive and negative energies. People have something deep within that registers energy and communicates it to our nervous system. It’s called intuition.
A thought creates a physical reaction or response. This is known as the ideomotor effect. "Ideo" for idea and "motor" for motion. In other words, a thought can create movement. The Lie Detector Test or the Polygraph is based upon this process. It's like Mind over Body.
People have been using the process to dowse for water with divining rods for thousands of years. Prehistoric wall paintings in the "Caves of Tassili" were discovered by French explorers in 1949 at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in northern Africa. One of the murals depicts a tribesman dowsing for water. These cave scenes have been scientifically proven to be at least 8,000 years old. Albert Einstein was fascinated by dowsing and he believed that electro-magnetism would somehow give us scientific answers about it.
Around the 1920’s and 1930's, farmers in North America ordered "Sex Detectors" from a mail-order catalog. This popular device was a simple Pendulum. Farmers held a Pendulum over pregnant animals to determine whether offspring would be male or female. They held it over eggs before placing them in the incubator to control the number of roosters hatched - they wanted more laying hens. Many of us can remember a grandmother or aunt using a pendulum to attempt to learn the sex of an unborn child.
Pendulums have been used to select winning stocks, choose a compatible lover, assist in health matters, locate lost objects, choose a vacation destination, decide which house to buy, select a job - even choose winning lottery tickets!
Although greed should never be your motivation when using a pendulum, you can use it to choose lottery tickets. Tickets are often displayed under a plastic cover on the checkout counter. Hold the pendulum over each ticket and ask for a YES or NO response as to whether the ticket might be a winning one. As you progress, you should find that you easily beat the odds more often. We have shared this technique with many audiences and we often hear from people who have succeeded. One woman in Rhode Island won three times in one year. Promise yourself that if you win a substantial amount, you will donate part of the money to charity.
You can make your own Pendulum with an 8 inch piece of thread tied to a pendant - an earring, ring, button or fishing line sinker. Or, you may prefer to own a perfectly balanced, handcrafted, Oracle Pendulum.
The Pendulum is easy to use.
Here is the process:
Sit down, feet flat on the floor.
Be in a quiet place, relaxed.
Hold The Pendulum over a sheet of paper with circle and arrows as in the photo. Draw a circle with intersecting lines. One line is labeled NO, the other line is YES.
Many variations are possible. You can decide on your own Pendulum language. Some prefer a circular movement for "yes" and a linear movement in any direction for "no."
Hold The Pendulum over the center of the symbol, look at it, and with only the power of your mind, make The Pendulum move in either direction. It is important that you do not consciously intend any particular movement of the pendulum. Simply watch the pendulum to see how it moves. Hold your hand steady and although you do not intentionally cause it to move, you should expect that it will move. You must have confidence.
While it moves in the appropriate direction, say to your subconscious "This means yes...this means no".
Repeat this process daily until the suggestions are accepted by your subconscious and you get movement easily.
Now you're ready to ask questions that can be answered by Yes or No.

Remember, it is NOT The Pendulum that gives the answers. The Pendulum only communicates and interprets your inner higher intelligence. The Pendulum should only be used as a tool to help guide you. Do not rely on The Pendulum as the only answer, or the only way to steer you through life. Use a more balanced approach.
